We inform you that from June 16, 2020 in the clinical diagnostic laboratory "Markov Clinic", an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) test for antibodies (IgM, IgA, IgG) to COVID-19 coronavirus is available. For the ELISA test, only a few drops of serum are needed. Therefore, it is possible to examine both blood from a vein and from a finger.

The serological immune response to coronavirus infections has its own characteristics: it is possible that specific antibodies of various classes (early ones - IgM and IgA, as well as later ones - IgG) may appear inconsistently or simultaneously, which was found in persons infected with the SARS-2002 coronavirus. According to the first available data, the same situation is characteristic of the new SARS-CoV-2 infection. Often, antibodies to the virus are determined already on the 5-7th day after the onset of symptoms of the disease, and after three to four weeks they should be registered in almost all patients. During illness, the antibody titer also correlates with the severity of the patient's condition. Therefore, in order to establish the fact of current or past infection with COVID-19, the simultaneous determination of all 3 classes of antibodies in dynamics is of significant diagnostic value again with an interval of 12-14 days.
