Report 2. Laboratory diagnostics of cytomegaloviral (CMV) infection.

I.S. Markov.

Summary

According to the modern protocol of examination for CMV-infection (determination of anti-CMV-IgG and IgM by IFA detection of DNA of CMV by the PCR method in various biosubstrats and cytological detection of cells-cytomegals) a group of 399 patients was examined (previously they were examined for HSV1/2-infection) including 189 children in the age to 14 years with nervous system organic disturbances and 210 women with complicated obstetrical anamnesis. Elevated level of IgG-class antibodies to CMV were revealed in 88% of adults and from 54% to 81% of children. Anti-CMV-IgM were observed only in 4,8% of adults with CMV infection and in 20,1% of children with CMV infection, but only in 19–20% of cases their observation has displayed replicative stage of CMV-infection. DNA-positive forms of chronic CMV-infection were diagnosed in 14% of women and 62,6% of children. Inverse relationship between level of observed
anti-CMV-IgG and frequency of revealing of infection replicative forms was ascertained. In 48,2% of cases cytological method of investigation permitted to additionally confirm the replicative phase of chronic CMV-infection, and in 13,4% – it had its own diagnostic significance.
